The story is set in motion when Bernard sends a letter of appreciation to Jeanne Botel, his favorite female author. The letter has a profound influence on Botel's latest work -- and on her budding relationship with Monsieur Bernard. The plot and comedy are enhanced by an excellent musical score, with the actors bursting into song at the drop of a hat, in the tradition of Rene Clair.
