For those who have been there, India can be a bureaucratic nightmare, where odd and arbitrary rules are capriciously enforced by a whimsical and occasionally quite greedy series of authorities, some of them self-appointed. The situation can be considerably worsened when an honest official comes into office, a man who believes that all that country's many rules and laws should be enforced all the time. In this story, the main business of a group of former aristocrats living in central India is leading tours into a national park and re-enacting the lifestyles of colonial India. However, this has only been possible because the park's officials applied its rules with some sense of perspective. In this wry and leisurely comedy, the worst possible disaster has struck: a small-minded and very honest official has just gotten posted to the position of park director, and he is bent on following the letter of the law. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Taken from a best-selling book, this is an uneven, politically tinged drama by George Englund that does not really follow the book that closely. Marlon Brando is Harrison Carter MacWhite, an ambassador to a Southeast Asian country that goes unnamed but stands in well for Vietnam. There is a growing movement against Yankee imperialism and the current government, increasing unrest, and other signs of a complex situation getting worse. At first the ambassador relies on past training and has his own facile explanations for the unfolding events. But as time goes by, he comes to learn that a revolutionary movement is not one-dimensional. Perry Mason (Raymond Burr) is intrigued when he receives a $2500 check from one Lucille Allred (Anna Lee), with no explanation why. Contacting Lucille's husband Bernard (Neil Hamilton), Perry is told that the woman has run off with another man. The situation becomes even more vexing when Bernard turns up murdered, not long after being in a highly suspicious car accident which also involved his business associate Bob Fleetwood (Harry Townes). Now Perry will be able to earn that $2500 as defense councel for Lucille Allred, who has been charged with her husband's murder. In an interesting bit of casting, Yvonne Craig appears as Bernard Allred's stepdaughter, some nine years before Ms. Craig and Neil Hamilton respectively played Barbara Gordon (aka Batgirl) and her dad Commissioner Gordon on TV's Batman. Revolt at Fort Laramie offers the old one about sworn enemies uniting to defeat an even more awesome foe. In this instance. The time is the Civil War: the place is a western cavalry outpost, where Union and Confederate sympathizers are forced to share close quarters. Not surprisingly, tensions erupt in a hurry, despite the honorable intentions of commander (and stalwart Southerner) John Dehner. But when indian chief Eddie Little lays siege upon Fort Laramie, Yanks and Rebels fight side by side.
