When a teenage girl is faced with an unexpected pregnancy, she enlists the aid of her best friend in finding the unborn child a suitable home in this coming-of-age comedy drama from Thank You for Smoking director Jason Reitman. Mark and Vanessa seem like they would make great parents, and are eager to adopt Juno's unborn child. Director Christopher Nolan follows up his breakthrough sophomore film Memento with this remake of a stylish Norwegian thriller. As Finch plays a dangerous game of extortion with Dormer, the detective's mental health deteriorates rapidly from guilt over his complicity in a crime and sleep deprivation compounded by the lack of darkness in the land of the midnight sun. Meanwhile, the bright and dogged Ellie continues putting the pieces of a complex puzzle together despite Dormer's skillful attempts to lead the investigation toward the right suspect, but away from his own malfeasance. The autobiography of New Zealand fearless political activist Sonja Davies was the source for the two-part, four-hour miniseries Bread and Roses. Genevieve Picot stars as Davies, who entered the world as an illegitimate outcast, a fate exacerbated by her divorce at age 17. Though shunned by "polite" society, the pregnant Davies managed to become a trainee nurse at the outbreak of WWII. Appalled by the hypocrisies of the world and the exigencies of sexual stereotyping, Davies became a dedicated socialist, literally coming of age by spearheading the women's rights movement of the mid-'50s. Along the way, she endured innumerable tragedies and heartbreaks, but she never gave up fighting the good fight. The 30-year struggle against an evil supernatural force that masquerades as a circus clown named Pennywise (Tim Curry) begins in 1960 and spans until 1990. Featured are a group of six young men and one young woman who call themselves "the lucky seven" and are the unfortunate targets of Pennywise from pre-adolescence into their mid-forties. The lucky seven emerge physically intact but emotionally scathed after their first battle with Pennywise -- who is a self-labeled "eater of worlds...and children."
