Patrick Macnee, Daniel Roebuck, and William Sanderson headline this kitschy sci-fi yarn about a trip through time gone horribly awry. A scheming professor is convinced that he can save mankind by traveling into the future, but in order to accomplish his benevolent mission he'll need some serious help. After convincing a group of down-and-out astronauts to take the trip, the professor and his trusty gorilla sidekick prepare to launch themselves into the future. But the Earth of the future bears little resemblance to the planet of the present, because in the future mankind has fallen victim to a cosmic plague, and a beautiful race of space babes reign with brutal authority. Add a horrible monster and an army of mutants into the mix, and it begins to appear that the professor's noble mission was doomed to failure all along. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

The title of this PG-rated actioner refers to the one-two punch packed by a pair of pre-teen kickboxers. Ten-year-old martial-arts expert Jimmy (Lorne Bernfield) and his equally self-reliant 13-year-old sister Lisa (Crystal Summer) learn their craft at the knee (or foot) of their father, real life kick-boxing champ Dale "Apollo" Cook. The kids' skills come in handy when they set out to rescue a kidnapped scientist. The last named character is played by Linda Blair. Obviously inspired by the Three Ninjas films, Double Blast lives up to its title. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Eddie Presley (Duane Whitaker is a security guard who, like his lifetime hero, is slightly overweight these days. Formerly, he occasionally worked as an Elvis impersonator. Recently he has had rather a rough time, but his spirits have improved on learning that he will have a chance to revive his impersonation routines for a single evening at a none-too spiffy nightclub. When the club's music equipment chews up his tapes, Eddie doesn't simply leave the stage. Instead, he delivers a monologue about his life and times, how he came to be so devoted to Elvis, and his recent nervous breakdown. This movie was adapted from a play and performance piece by Duane Whitaker. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Two young people brought to the edge of death find themselves dragged back by a mysterious stranger in this horror story. When four teenagers are seriously injured in an auto accident, a spectral man dressed in black (Joe Estevez) arrives to claim their souls. But it seems that the Soultaker has arrived too soon; as he tries to draw their spirits from their bodies, it becomes evident that two of the kids, Natalie (Vivian Schilling) and Zach (Gregg Thomsen), aren't actually dead, but merely comatose and will soon recover. The Soultaker is determined to claim four souls, no matter how many have actually passed on, and he finds himself locked in a desperate struggle to take the other two victims with him, whether they like it or not. Vivian Schilling, who plays the female lead in Soultaker, also wrote the film's screenplay. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
