Ellen Carlyle is exhausted and looks forward to her upcoming vacation alone in the woods, but somehow things don't turn out as planned for the hard-working television news anchor, and instead of resting she ends up fighting for her life. The ordeal begins at work the night before her vacation when a madman bursts into her studio and holds her at gunpoint while her cameraman tries to talk him down. Later her pal Joey offers to take her to her cabin. As she settles in, a homicidal maniac escapes from prison, and unknown to Carlyle, whose investigations helped convict him, she is at the top of his revenge list. Though Joey shows up the next day to warn her and beg her to help him with his new report, she refuses because she has a hot date with the town deputy. Eventually the fugitive killer is captured and Carlyle believes she is finally safe. Unfortunately, that is not the end of the her problems. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
Hunter launches its seven-season run with the series' two-hour pilot, starring former football proFred Dryer as Rick Hunter, a mobster's son who has grown up to become a thoroughly incorruptible LAPD detective sergeant. Hunter's "Dirty Harry" tactics and his flagrant flouting of the rules have earned him thousands of loyal supporters and an equal number of bitter enemies--the latter on both sides of the law. Though the higher-ups would prefer that Hunter pack up his bottomless arsenal of weaponry and his pithy "Make my day"-style catchphrases (notably "Works for me") and leave town, he is obviously the one man capable of trapping an elusive murderer who is holding the city in thrall. Teaming up with Hunter for the first time in this episode is his friendly enemy, Sgt. Dee Dee McCall (Stepfanie Kramer), better known as "the brass cupcake." Michael Cavanaugh appears as Captain Lester Cain, a role taken over in subsequent episodes by Arthur Rosenberg. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
In Marked for Death, Steven Seagal is told to "try to find the gentle person inside yourself." But he doesn't spend too much time looking, preferring instead to crack the spines of his victims. Seagal plays John Hatcher, a burned-out narcotics agent who resigns from the Drug Enforcement Administration after his partner is killed. He returns to his hometown and finds the city in the thrall of a vicious Jamaican drug gang, led by the nasty Screwface (Basil Wallace). He meets an old friend, now a high school football coach, who tells John about losing his best player and his 13-year-old nephew to drug overdoses. Soon John's family is threatened and his prize Mustang stolen, so John joins forces with his buddy to take on Screwface and the drug gang themselves. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

This blood-soaked shocker seems to waver between standard horror and black comedy as it tells the tale of a young man who is so plagued by terrifying nightmares of a haunted prison that he is unable to function normally during the day. To understand the dreams, he goes to a dream interpreter who tells him the prison is the abandoned Alcatraz and that to stop the dreams, he must go there to face his fear. The young man brings a few skeptical friends with him. Once in the notorious, empty prison, the visage of a late rock star appears and explains the situation. Apparently the place is being haunted by the vile ghost of a US cavalry officer who enjoyed eating human flesh. The dead rocker then explains that the young man needs to destroy the demon before it kills again. Unfortunately, the creature has already begun possessing and killing the fellow's friends one-by-one. The soundtrack features music from Devo. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
