An adolescent girl constantly alternating between the curious world of a child and the sophisticated realm of womanhood explores Paris and experiences the poignant pangs of growing up in director Charles Belmont's and seventeen-year old screenwriter/star Salome Blechmans' screen adaptation of Blechman's own book Le journal de bèbè. Bethsabèe Pasolini (Blechman) is a student at Claude Monet lycèe in Paris. Nicknamed Bèbè by her friends, the burgeoning young woman isn't quite prepared to take flight on her own, but can't help but feeling that she is about to move on to bigger things. Now, in between fleeting moments of flirtation with the opposite sex, treasured time spent with her family, and playful moments with close friends, the inquisitive girl with a vivid imagination finally begins to shed her first skin. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

His friend Partre (Samy Frey) is an avid collector of objects belonging to his favorite author, often spending his remaining money on the souvenirs. Although the cast in this melodrama about religious faith does the best it can with the script, they cannot overcome a surface treatment of the characters. A young teen and his sister are having difficulties at home because their parents are in serious discord and a divorce seems imminent. This situation does not help the brother at his Jesuit school, where he gets in trouble for writing a very un-Godly article in the school paper, one of the results of his antagonistic relationship to a new teacher. After the teen is expelled for the article he published, his state of mind deteriorates and he begins to contemplate suicide. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide

A generally destructive atmosphere settles over this New Wave drama about a trio of youths looking to debunk hypocrisy wherever they find it. One of the early films by Claude Chabrol, the tale looks at the relationship of Ronald (Jean-Claude Brialy), Ambroisine (Bernadette Lafont), and Arthur (Charles Belmont). Arthur and Ronald have their differences, but the three join up to knock the air out of the wind-bags of pomposity, puncture the veneer of the gallingly elitist art world, and do combat in other arenas where people are less than honest. But Ronald has not forgotten an early offense he suffered at Arthur's hands, and soon the relationships in the trio start to change. ~ Eleanor Mannikka, All Movie Guide
