The Ballet Nacional de Cuba mounted this production of composer Ludwig Minkus's ballet Don Quixote, adapted, of course, from the seminal 1605 Spanish-language novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes. It stars Dayron Vera as Don Quijote, Javier Sánchez as Sancho Panza, and Viengsay Valdès as Kitri. Alicia Alonso choreographed, adapting choreography by Alexandre Gorsky and Marius Petipa. The Symphonic Orchestra of the Great Theatre of Havana, under the baton of Giovanni Duarte, provides added musical accompaniment. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

Charles Aznavour and Ugo Tognazzi appear in this comedy about two Jewish merchants in need of cash. They team up with a Seminarian (Andre Dussolier) whose talents lie in opening safes and praying to God for assistance, and they plan one great robbery that will get everyone out of debt. This Filipino scarefest is better known by the title Mad Doctor of Blood Island. The principle villain, however, is not a "he" but an "it". A frantic search is conducted on a remote island for a deadly, green-blooded "Chlorophyl Monster." Notice how we aren't making any toothpaste jokes here. It should come as no surprise that John Ashley is the star; his leading lady is the luscious Angelique Pettyjohn, while Ronald Remy is the eponymous mad doctor. Remy would make a return appearance in a sort of sequel, Beast of Blood ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
