Two anarchistic brothers live by petty thievery and try to recover from their Catholic upbringing. Bandiera (Laurent Terzieff) and Rabbino (Franco Citti) were children when they pushed their drunk of a father out of a window for killing their pet sheep. When a girl is raped by her father, she is brought by young "rescuers" to the home of the two brothers who then watch their friends take advantage of her sexually. The brothers take her in, and the three live happy and celibate if not uneventful lives until the brother's are sent to jail for stealing. An actor writes a play for the members of his second rate thespian group. A strange man who conducts a seance brings about a young boy a couple had always wanted. Each member of the troupe may indulge in a fantasy while the boy watches. Four women drag off a dwarf who lectures on sex education. A matronly actress brings him to a home for retired actresses where the director tries to find hidden meaning in statues. One woman believes she is suffering from a fatal ailment. The young boy watches as an aging actress defies time and temporarily regains her youthfulness. Based on an interesting plot from a novel by Robert Sheckley, this movie features tongue-in-cheek performances by Andress and Mastroianni, which are responsible for its status as a minor cult favorite. Set in the 21st century, this science fiction movie depicts a society in which population control is facilitated by the use of legalized murder.
