Jackie Chan dons a helmet and jumpsuit to stars in this critically panned action flick about crime and hotrods. Jackie is an ace car mechanic and an even better driver who gets himself involved with notorious bandit racer Cougar (Thoresten Nickel) during a casual street race. The Hong Kong cops have long been looking for Cougar for not only illegally modifying racing vehicles, but also for a string of less obscure crimes like murder and extortion. When Jackie beats the guy in the race, Cougar is furious. As a result of the race, Cougar gets dragged to the clink and vows revenge. Soon after, Cougar busts out of prison kills Jackie's parents, kidnaps his sister (Anita Yuen Wing-yee), and demands that he race him in the Sendai Grand Prix in northern Japan. Wild high-speed chases and a rollicking kung-fu fight in a pachinko parlor ensue. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide

Internationally renowned filmmaker Tsui Hark produced this amiable screwball romantic comedy from Hong Kong director Chor Yuen. Popular action star Chow Yun-fat plays Chow Ting-fat, a stockbroker who is in love with two different women. Joey (Joey Wang) is a beautiful boutique owner and Sally (Sally Yeh) is a glamorous stewardess. Chow wants to marry them both, and manages to do that very thing, but naturally must keep each woman unaware of the other's existence in his life. The usual farcical situations ensue, with Chow's friend Chi-hung (Waise Lee) aiding him in the constant subterfuge necessary to keep his activities a secret. One person who does notice when two different women claim to be Chow's wife is Inspector Cheng (Kent Cheng), who starts investigating Chow's situation with a grim dedication rarely seen outside of homicide units. As might be expected, Chow's luck eventually runs out after one too many near-misses, and Joey and Sally join forces to get revenge on the two-timing bigamist. It's a familiar plot, but the exuberant actors and Yuen's skilled direction make it constantly seem fresh and amusing. Carrie Ng leads an impressive supporting cast including David Wu and Shing Fui-on. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide

Pop star Leslie Cheung stars in this maudlin melodrama as Louie, a spoiled pop star, who, at the film's outset, sleeps with beautiful dancer Anita (Anita Mui Yim-fong). The next morning, Anita tells Louie of her dream of becoming a singer. That night, Louie invites Anita on-stage and soon a star is born. Though clearly Anita has fallen hard for him, Louie is more interested in the leggy Julia (Joey Wang Tsu-hsien). When he learns that the eye of his apple is dating his dad, Louie cancels his concert and flees the country for Paris. There he shacks up with comely Vietnamese refugee Yuan Yu-shih (Cecilia Yip Tong), who suffers from a mysterious war wound. Though working happily as a restaurant dishwasher with his new love, Louie soon finds his previous life calling him back when Anita pays him a visit. ~ Jonathan Crow, All Movie Guide
