A 12-year old boy inherits the Minnesota Twins in this baseball comedy that is aimed toward younger viewers. Young Billy, a normal twelve-year old, is nuts about baseball and knows almost everything there is to know about the game. He should, his grandfather owns the perennial losers, the Minnesota Twins. When grandpa dies, he leaves the Twins in Billy's hands. Naturally the players are skeptical, especially after Billy designates himself as team manager. But with a combination of guile, knowledge and determination, Billy earns their grudging respect and the team begins a winning streak. Initially, Billy reminds the team that baseball is supposed to be fun, but he soon forgets that as he becomes increasingly involved in the adult world of competition, management and team politics. His three friends are angered that he no-longer has time for them. Billy gets made when the first baseman starts going out with his mom. Eventually the burned out Billy must again learn how to be a kid. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

In 1980, 20-year-old novice director Stuart Paul exhibited far more chutzpah than talent with Falling in Love Again. Ten years later, an older, wiser Paul has picked up some talent, but it's still outweighed by sheer nerve. In Fate, Paul casts himself as the last of the truly nice guys (or so he regards himself). He has his future all planned, specifically an ideal marriage to the perfect woman. The next step is to find that woman. Cheryl Lynn co-stars, along with veterans Kaye Ballard and Susannah York, who seem to have a better grasp on what they're doing than the ubiquitous Mr. Paul. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Everyone jumps to the obvious conclusion when inveterate lothario and infamous opportunist Dan (John Larroquette) begins dating Patty Douglas (Mimi Kennedy), an unattractive woman who is primed to inherit a fortune. But Dan indignantly insists that he's genuinely in love--and that he'd be genuinely in love even if Patty weren't worth forty million bucks! This episode marks the first appearance of William Utay in the role of philosophical derelict Phil Sanders. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
This uneven attempt at horror parody, direced by Norman Thaddeus Vane, gets off to a fairly promising start with a fun performance from Ferdinand Mayne (the imposing lead vampire in Roman Polanski's Fearless Vampire Killers) as the impossibly flamboyant horror superstar Conrad Radzoff -- whose idea of a memorable promotional stunt for his latest film involves the murder of its director. Though this proves a hard act to follow, Radzoff manages to do so by kicking the bucket himself. Then enter the annoying young members of a horror-film society who decide to steal Radzoff's corpse to use as a macabre centerpiece at their next hootenanny. Big mistake. Mrs. Radzoff is none too pleased and consults a spirit medium to reanimate her husband's body and avenge the desecration of his crypt. Sadly, what began as a clever comic nod to horror films of yore (and their die-hard fans in particular) collapses completely into routine slasher formula as Radzoff floats his coffin around the house in pursuit of his enemies, dispatching them in outrageously gory ways. Distributors released a title on video, shortly after the run of this film, entitled 'Frightmare II.' It was in fact a 1974 Pete Walker film all but unrelated to this one and erroneously advertised as the sequel to Vane's film. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

This anthology is set at the title motor inn and looks at the shenanigans going on within three of its rooms. The first tale "Conduit" centers on a socially isolated man who increasingly favors his self-created world to the real one outside his rooms. There is little reason for him to leave as there he can find food and sex for money, and he can always rely on his disfigured buddy to keep him abreast of what goes on outside of his sequestered little room. The second story, "Kathleen" centers on a severely depressed woman who is persuaded not to kill herself by the man in the next room, a nightclub comedian. In the final vignette, "The Advantage," an outspoken, philosophical nightclub singer performs her songs, nearly gets raped, and later entices a young boy into bed. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

The time has come for Hazzard County's annual "Drag 'N' Fly" car-jumping contest, and Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) is determined to win by removing the Dukes from the running. Is it really necessary to add that Boss Hogg's scheme ends up backfiring big-time? ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Also known as In Love, Falling in Love Again stars Elliott Gould. While en route to a class reunion, Harry Lewis (Gould) recalls the golden days of his youth. These flashbacks are contrasted with his current sorry existence as the unhappy husband of his high-school sweetheart, Sue (Susannah York). This was the directorial debut for 20-year-old Steven Paul (whose brother Stuart plays the younger Gould) as well as the big-screen debut of Michelle Pfeiffer (playing the teenage Sue). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The story centers upon a poor-little-rich-girl runaway who heads for the Venice boardwalk to join the other hipsters on wheels. She and her new friends then team up to keep an avaricious developer from razing the local roller rink and putting a shopping mall in its stead. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Scandalizing historians with its blithe disregard for the historical record, this American Civil War docudrama poses the theory that President Lincoln's Secretary of War, Edward Stanton, was behind a plot to kill him at Ford's Theater. His motive was his opposition to Lincoln's adamant refusal to allow the North to punish the South for its actions. The "official" assassination goes awry when another would-be assassin, the second-rate actor John Wilkes Booth, learns of the plot and decides to beat the government to the punch, for reasons of his own. In the movie, it is Stanton's assassin who is mistakenly captured and killed, rather than Booth. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
Paul Bartel rips off his own Death Race 2000 in this mindless car-crash saga, containing more twisted metal than a bombed-out steel mill. The nominal storyline concerns an illegal auto race from Los Angeles to New York that promises the winner 100,000 dollars. David Carradine is Coy "Cannonball" Buckman, the race leader who drags his girlfriend, Linda (Veronica Hamel), along for the ride. Cade Redman (Bill McKinney) tools around in a loud red Trans Am, while Cannonball's nemesis barrels along in a big, black Plymouth, trying to outsmart Cannonball at every turn and exit ramp. The pile-ups keep building, and the cameos (Roger Corman, Martin Scorsese, Sylvester Stallone, Joe Dante, Paul Bartel) keep coming, but Cannonball must make it to New York to collect his winnings. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

Considered the quintessential "girls in prison" flick of the 1970s, novice director Jonathan Demme's Caged Heat is set in a hellish American woman's penitentiary run by vicious, wheelchair-bound Barbara Steele. Statuesque convict Erica Gavin is forced to undergo horrible (but legal) tortures when she is falsely accused of trying to escape. Gavin and fellow con Juanita Brown decide to make a real break, but return to prison to rescue a friend who is about to be lobotomized by the sadistic prison doctor. Then they stage a robbery, only to find a group of male robbers at the bank ahead of them. A final shootout in the prison yards brings the film to a bloody climax. Caged Heat was also released under the title Renegade Girls. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Hoping for a quick financial turnover, the brothers make a deal with the Mob, offering to hijack their competitors' trucks for a share of the loot. Unfortunately, the Mob has a lengthy history of not playing fair. Curiously, though frequent F.B.I guest star Anthony Eisley is usually cast as Special Agent Chet Randolph, he is herein billed as "Agent Wright." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Don Schain directed this second installment in the Ginger series starring Cheri Caffaro as the blond heroine. In this episode, Ginger must rescue three cheerleaders who have been forced into white slavery. The usual sexual and violent escapades ensue. Cult-film devotees will recognize one of the cheerleaders as Jeramie Rain, then-wife of Richard Dreyfuss and star of Last House on the Left (1972). Caffaro returned the following year in Schain's Girls Are for Loving. ~ Robert Firsching, All Movie Guide
Russ Meyer followed-up his delirious Beyond the Valley of the Dolls with this surprisingly straighforward drama, which offered little of Meyer's traditional tongue-in-cheek humor or remarkably proportioned women in favor of a serious message about the evils of censorship. A bookstore sells a copy of a notorious erotic novel, entitled The Seven Minutes, to a teenager who is later arrested for rape. A prosecutor on a crusade against pornography seizes upon this as an opportunity to have the book declared obscene, and the trial sparks a heated debate about the issue of pornography vs. free speech, as well as revealing a startling revelation about the novel's true author. Adapted from a novel by Irving Wallace, The Seven Minutes featured one of Meyer's more interesting casts, including veteran character actors John Carradine and Alexander D'Arcy, a post-Munsters Yvonne de Carlo, a pre-Magnum P.I. Tom Selleck, lounge comic Jackie Gayle, and Wolfman Jack as himself. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
