A long weekend in the mountains with his family affords a workaholic father and husband the opportunity to reassess his values in the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Sheri Kaz. Despite begrudgingly agreeing to accompany his wife Laura and young daughter Carla on a weekend trip to the mountains to visit Laura's parents Will and Ruby, John's mind remains firmly planted back in the workplace. As grandfather Will bonds with young Carla by introducing her to Moosie the family mule and surprising her with a newborn kitten, perceptive Ruby notices the cracks forming in her daughter's marriage and implores John to focus more on his family and less on his job. When the kitten escapes and Will sets out on Moosie to track down the fragile feline, the vacation quickly takes a tragic turn as a storm rolls in and both Will and Carla lie injured and helpless in the wilderness. Terrified at the prospect of his daughter falling into harm's way and frustrated at his inability to rescue her in her time of need, John resolves to spend more time with his family as Will bandages his leg and battles the elements to reach young Carla before it's too late. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

A yuppie and a hippie are the offbeat pairing of this character comedy in the tradition of earlier mismatched buddy films such as Midnight Run (1988). Kiefer Sutherland is uptight, 26-year-old FBI agent John Buckner, who's been assigned to escort an aging counterculture radical named Huey Walker (Dennis Hopper) to Oregon for trial on a charge that's decades old. Buckner finds Huey's lifestyle and beliefs irresponsible. Once the two are bound for their Pacific Northwest destination, Huey begins to play psychological mind games with the straight-arrow Buckner, convincing him that he's tripping on hallucinogenic drugs, getting him drunk, and setting him up with a hooker named Sparkle (Kathleen York). Huey trades places with his captor and soon a game of cat-and-mouse is afoot as the agent pursues the one-time radical, with surprising revelations abounding regarding Buckner's childhood and Huey's motivations for allowing himself to be captured. Flashback also stars Carol Kane, Cliff De Young, Richard Masur, Michael McKean, and Paul Dooley. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi

On March 30, 1986, Claude Dallas, an Ohio-born trapper serving a 30-year sentence for a double murder, escaped from prison. He was still at large at the time the made-for-TV Manhunt for Claude Dallas first aired on October 28, 1986. Matt Salinger stars as Dallas in this gritty, Colorado-filmed effort, which begins with his relocating in Idaho, where he established a reputation of living well outside the law. In 1981, Dallas shot and killed two Fish and Game officers, sparking a 15-month manhunt. Before he was arrested, Dallas had become a folk hero in certain circles. John Gay's teleplay was adapted from Jeff Long's book Outlaw. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
