To celebrate the Jubilaeum 2000, Pope John Paul II commissioned a series of concert presentations. This, the first in the cycle, features one of the world's greatest and best-loved classical vocalists, Jose Carreras, performing at Milan's Basilica di S. Ambrogio Church, accompanied by the Dell'Emilia Romagna Symphonic Orchestra. Carreras performs a selection of songs of the Christmas season, as well as spiritual music from such composers as Handel, Bach, and Schubert.
