Michael Biehn Movies
As a child, Michael Biehn moved from his Alabama hometown to Nebraska and finally Arizona, where he graduated high school. He went to college and later moved to Los Angeles to begin a film career, making his professional stage debut after two years of intensive training. In 1978, Biehn was cast as Mark Johnson, the hard-veneered but vulnerable ward of psychiatrist Robert Reed in the TV series Operation: Runaway. For the next few years, malevolence was Biehn's onscreen strong suit, first as the psycho title character in 1981's The Fan, then as the neofascist military-school upperclassman in The Lords of Discipline (1982). After switching gears with the sympathetic role of futuristic android-hunter Kyle Reese in James Cameron's The Terminator, Biehn became a member of Cameron's informal stock company, playing colorful leading roles in Aliens (1986) and The Abyss (1989). Michael Biehn starred in this gloriously derivative syndicated TV series as Judson Cross, a world-famous "professional finder" whose past discoveries included the Lost Dutchman Mine and Amelia Earhart's abandoned plane. Using the high-tech yacht "Vast Explorer" as his headquarters, Cross (who never left home without an Indiana Jones-style floppy hat) hired himself out for any and all adventures and expeditions, generally to locate what no one else could find, and often running up against unsavory types with full complements of weapons and hulking henchmen. Cross' business partners included a brace of "young renegades," Mackenzie Previn (Karen Cliche) and Gabriel Patterson (Jesse Nilsson), both of whom encountered a great deal of difficulty remaining fully clothed. A boy learns to deal with personal loss by making friends with a wild animal in this drama for the family. Jesse (Shane Meier) is a 16-year-old who is trying to put his life back together after the death of his father, who died while trying to rescue him in the wilderness. Jesse goes to live with his Uncle Roy (Michael Biehn), who lives in the rugged mountains of Washington State. While exploring, Jesse finds and rescues a wolf who has been seriously wounded; Jesse bonds with the animal, and while Roy understands the dangers of trying to tend to a wild animal, he allows Jesse to keep him, though Roy suggests that donating the wolf to a zoo might be a good idea. However, Jesse, who is fond of snowboarding, teaches the wolf to be his partner in skijoring, a sport in which a dog is used to haul a man on skis. John Rockwell (Roy Scheider), the owner of a ranch, has different plans for the animal; he sees the wolf as a threat to his stock and is determined to see that the animal is put down. Season two of the TV western The Magnificent Seven: The Series begins as the previously wide-open town of Four Corners is (ostensibly) provided with official law-and-order with the arrival of federal marshal Walter Bryce (Peter Firth). Reluctantly, Judge Travis (Robert Vaughn) orders the seven honest mercenaries who have been keeping the peace to disband. The group's leader, reformed gunslinger Chris Larrabee (Michael Biehn) reluctantly goes along with Travis--but secretly continues to convene with his six companions in order to be at the ready in case their services are required (which of course they are, week after week after week). In other developments, the youngest of the Seven, callow Easterner J.D. (Andrew Kavovit), begins a romance with the hoydenish Casey (Dana Barron)--the series' second such coupling, the first being the unspoken but obvious attraction between Chris and lovely widowed newspaper editor Mary (Laurie Holden). Also, smooth-talking con artist Ezra (Anthony Starke) purchases a saloon, only to find himself in direct confrontation with his own mother, the redoubtable Maude (Michelle Phillips); unabashed womanizer Buck (Dale Midkiff) finds himself facing the prospect of fatherhood when his Mexican sweetheart Inez (Fabiana Udenio) turns up pregnant; the taciturn Vin (Eric Close) enters into a potentially dangerous liason with the long-suffering wife (Kathryn Morris) of a brutish wagonmaster; ex-slave Nathan (Rick Worthy) tries to clear his father of a murder charge in the death of their former master; and defrocked priest Josiah (Ron Perlman) continues delivering dark prognostications of events to come. Season One of the TV western The Magnificent Seven: The Series begins with a 2-hour opener, set in the early 1870s, which details how seven "fast guns" were united under the guidance of reformed gunslinger Chris Larrabee (Michael Biehn) to protect a peaceful Seminole Indian tribe from being slaughtered by an insane ex-Confederate officer and his band of brigands. Reportedly, one of the Seven was to have been killed in the pilot and replaced by actor Francis Riley as Irish expatriate Darragh O'Malley, but the producers were so impressed by the chemistry among the leading actors that it was decided to keep the original cast intact. Once their job is done, Chris and his companions--tactiturn ex-bounty hunter Vin (Eric Close), ladies' man Buck (Dale Midkiff), defrocked priest and "mad prophet" Josiah (Ron Perlman), cynical Southern con-man Ezra (Anthony Starke), former slave Nathan (Rick Worhty) and Eastern-born naïf J.D. (Andrew Kavovit)--are invided by Judge Orin Travis (Robert Vaughn) in remain a team in order to safeguard the town of Four Corners from any and all outlaws, killers and other miscreants. Travis is willing to tolerate the the Seven's unorthodox (and sometimes downright) unethical methods, so long as they get results. Likewise grateful for the Seven's presence is Travis' widowed daughter Mary (Laurie Holden, editor of "The Daily Clarion", as well as local cowgal Casey (Dana Barron). In the course of the season's 10 episodes, our heroes rescue a group of "working girls" from their brutal overseer, redeem of professional safecracker, help Mary's son (Justin Travis) overcome a traumatic experience, and contend with the arrival of Ezra's equally larcenous mother (Michelle Phillips). A tough old American cop finds himself teamed with a young Korean policeman and assigned to take on both the Yakuza and the Mafia. Filled with plenty of cross-cultural stereotypes, this low-budget actioner begins as Tony (action-genre veteran Michael Biehn) inadvertently blows his cover during a mob investigation and his enemy Rocco escapes. Tony's mistake results in a transfer to the homicide department, and he is given visiting officer Kim for a partner. Kim came to the U.S. to investigate a Yakuza-related murder. At first neither detective cares much for the other, and for a time it looks as if their differences will prevent them from working effectively together.
