John Wesley Shipp Movies
Virginia native John Wesley Shipp became a familiar face to audiences with the role of Kelly Nelson on the daytime soap Guiding Light, which he played from 1980 to 1984. He also played the notable role of Douglas Cummings on As the World Turns from 1985-1986, and had recurring roles on Santa Barbara, One Life to Live, and All My Children before taking on the role of Mitch Leery on the popular teen drama Dawson's Creek in 1998. He continued to play Mitch until 2001, and subsequently continued his career on screen with appearances on shows like The Closer and movies like Road Rage. ~ Cammila Albertson, All Movie GuideBased on the comic-strip character created by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert, The Flash was a briefly popular fantasy-adventure TV series which ran from September 20, 1990, to July 19, 1991. John Wesley Shipp stars as police chemist Barry Allen, who, after being struck by a lightning bolt and doused with chemicals, transformed into The Flash, the fastest human being on earth. He was so fast at times that his movements were invisible to the human eye. In typical superhero fashion, the Flash was often pitted against colorfully costumed supervillains. Flash 2: Revenge of the Trickster is comprised of two hour-long Flash episodes, both starring Mark Hamill as a crazed magician turned master criminal. The feminine interest is provided by Amanda Pays as Tina McGee, the only person who knows that Barry Allen and Flash are one in the same. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Following the surprisingly successful children's fantasy The Neverending Story (1984), this lesser sequel presents the further adventures of the young boy Bastian in the magical land of Fantasia. Bastian (Jonathan Brandis) returns to this kingdom of the imagination, reached through a magical antique book, to escape from his unpleasant life as a social outcast with a distant father. Unfortunately, things aren't so great in Fantasia either, which is under attack by the sorceress Xayide (Clarissa Burt), and Fantasia's young leader soon recruits Bastian to help win the battle for their world. Several memorable creatures return from the first film, including the Rock Biter and the Luck Dragon, and a number of other strange beasts make appearances along the way. However, the plot often relies on stale fairy-tale elements that make the sequel feel substantially less original than the fresh and unexpectedly charming original. However, enough children were entertained by the special effects and the simple story of good-versus-evil for a third installment, The Never Ending Story 3: Escape from Fantasia, to follow three years later. ~ Judd Blaise, All Movie Guide
