Andre the Giant Movies
Discovered in his late teens, André René Roussimoff made an international name for himself as professional wrestler André the Giant. Suffering from a condition that perpetuated the secretion of a growth hormone, André turned his 7' 4" frame and over 500-pound body weight into a considerable asset, and he soon became one of the most famous and successful performers in the profession. Benefiting from the sport's increased media exposure on TV and film, André's wrestling exploits with the World Wrestling Federation were recorded in numerous WWF documentaries throughout the 1980s, including the first six Wrestlemanias. Appearing sporadically in fiction films as well, André was best known for his performance as Fezzik, the mellow giant who becomes enmeshed in Cary Elwes' quest to reclaim Robin Wright's heart from the evil prince in Rob Reiner's popular comic fairy tale The Princess Bride (1987). André's last film appearance was in the low-budget comedy Trading Mom (1994); he died from a heart attack while in France to attend his father's funeral in 1993. ~ Lucia Bozzola, All Movie Guide

Micki (Ann Reinking) is the wife of Rob (Dudley Moore), an airheaded TV talk show host. Maude (Amy Irving) is an attractive musician who is unaware of Micki's existence, and with whom Rob falls in love. Rob is a guy who can't say no, thus when Maude announces that she's pregnant, Rob obligingly marries her. Trouble is, he's still married to Micki who is also pregnant. To make matters worse, Rob's wives are due to give birth on the same day, forcing the double dealer to work doubly hard to keep both demanding women happy. Based on William Goldman's novel of the same name, The Princess Bride is staged as a book read by grandfather (Peter Falk) to his ill grandson (Fred Savage). Falk's character assures a romance-weary Savage that the book has much more to deliver than a simpering love story, including but not limited to fencing, fighting, torture, death, true love, giants, and pirates. Indeed, The Princess Bride offers a tongue-in-cheek fairy tale depicting stable boy-turned-pirate Westley's journey to rescue Buttercup (Robin Wright), his true love, away from the evil prince (Chris Sarandon), whom she had agreed to marry five years after learning of what she had believed to be news of Westley's death. This video shows how Hulk Hogan pleased his fans by defeating legendary Hall of Famer Andre the Giant, while Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat defeated Randy Savage in a match that's still considered a major classic. The Mommy Market originated as a fey satirical novel by Nancy Brelis. In the film version, Anna Chlumsky plays the oldest of three siblings who are fed up with their impossible mother (Sissy Spacek). Through methods too complicated to go into here, the kids are able to make Mom completely disappear. They then head to the local "Mommy Market" to select a new parent. Spacek returns to play three entirely different characters, an impressive chunk of versatility indeed. Far more impressive than the film itself, which suffers from lackluster direction (by Tia Brelis, daughter of author Nancy Brelis) and a threadbare budget. Test-marketed under its original title in 1992, The Mommy Market fell flat with audiences; it was reissued with alterations as Trading Mom in 1994, only to plunge into obscurity for a second time. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
