This is a made for TV drama which manages to interweave the personal backgrounds/problems of many different people in a village, all of which are heightoned by it being the Day of the Annual Feast (= fair ! ). Although there is plenty of tragedy, this is lightened by various comic elements. Some brilliant acting, especially by Peter Egan, who manages to look sexy even tho massively disabled! Worth watching, and not just once.
