Aenigma (1987)
Member Rating:
Horror legend Lucio Fulci directed this substandard supernatural thriller. Lara Naszinski develops a psychic link with a comatose student who was the victim of a cruel prank at a Boston girls' school. Together, the girls wreak havoc upon their bullying tormentors. Fulci eschews his usual gory set-pieces here for bizarre murders involving living statues and killer snails, and the plot, cribbed from Richard Franklin's superior Patrick (1978), is weak and underdeveloped. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

If you interested in checking out Fulci's flicks, skip this one or at least bump it to the bottom of the priority list. Very slow paced with next to no gore, this movie just seems to drag on with no scares. There's one scene towards the end where they show a few decapatations, but they look so fake it's dumb. The ending is lame too, they don't tie up some loose ends. Like, who was that chick that was possesed by the coma chick? A ghost? Stick with Fulci's supernatural flicks.

This movie is not good but if you are a Fulci fan purely because you love The Maestro with all your heart then you should definitely see it. There is no gore to speak of and the plot borrows heavily from other films but Fulci does put his mark on it. I almost wish someone would "reimagine" it but I suppose in some ways it's a reimagining of movies like Carrie anyway...well sort of...
