Camille bore her son Christopher when she was very young. Wanting the best for him, she agreed to let big-hearted civil-servant Grace raise him. All Camille asked was that the three live nearby and that Grace never tell Christopher that she is his real mother. The situation works well with Camille content to quietly watch her son grow into a fine, girl-crazy 17-year old. The trouble begins when he contracts AIDS and slowly begins to die. Unable to bear it all in silence, Camille impulsively makes Christopher's acquaintance and they become friends until she takes him out to her country house one weekend and they become much more.
