L'Enfant Des Neiges (1996)

L'Enfant Des Neiges (1996)
This documentary is suitable for the entire family and chronicles the year-long wilderness experience of French filmmaker Nicolas Vanier who with his wife Diane and 21-month-old daughter Montaine traveled deep into the northernmost Canadian Rockies to cross the Yukon. The journey begins as they ride on horseback 700 kilometer into the wilderness during the summer of 1994. Finding a likely place, they built a log cabin using simple tools and lived there off the land until the winter snows fell. The Vanier's then had a team of huskies and a large sled delivered by hydroplane. Leaving their cabin they set off across the Yukon trying to survive extreme temperatures and make it safely to Dawson, where wide-eyed Montaine marvels at seeing civilization for the first time. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
