Me and My Matchmaker (1996)

Me and My Matchmaker (1996)
Debuting filmmaker Mark Wexler entered the world of a professional Jewish matchmaker to make a documentary and ended up getting more than he bargained for in this delightful film. His astute, wiseacre subject Irene lives and works in Chicago where she has made over 285 successful (ending in marriage) matches. Of those matches only four have ended in divorce. It doesn't take Irene long to zero in on the single Wexler. When she finds out that he is more interested in beauty than enduring qualities, that is when the fun really begins. When not actually going out with one of her clients and dodging her barbs, Wexler finds the time to produce an interesting portrait of a fascinating woman. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi
