Craig T. Nelson is always good. I liked his role in this movie and the POLTERGEIST movies, and he was a good straight man in the comedy series 'COACH". Can't say the same for CRUISE. Never thought he's a good actor. Even in TOP GUN and MISSION IMPOSSIBLE movies later in his career. The story lines and action in those movies were good, but not his acting. It seems as though he puts in the script that he would be running in all of his movies. Maybe because when he's running he doesn't have to act. ALL THE RIGHT MOVES is alright though, revealing a small town high school football player and his desire to succeed so he doesn't have to work the coal mines like his father and brother.

Great high school football movie. Craig(list) Nelson kills it in this one. Cruise is ok, but he still brings out that "I'm trying to hold in a #2!" face while attempting to shed tears (see TopGun). Lea Thompson, a legend from some the great 80's flicks, shows up in this one, topless, which is always nice. This movie was Friday Nights Lights, before Friday Night Lights. More gritty and desolute, with all the characters searching for something better, anything than that depressing town they are in. Love the scene where Cruise and the town crownies trash Nelson's house and as Nelson comes out to confront them, they all run away, except Cruise, who is stuck, hiding. Then he decides to run to the car, only to be left high and dry and in desperation, runs for it, in clear sight of Nelson. Classic!

Super cheesy 80's flick. The sound track is almost unbearable. Not a bad story if you like Tom Cruise he's okay.
