MallRats is a transitional film ... Smith is writer/director/producer/actor, as he was in CLERKS, but now he had the studios bankrolling him , to the tune of $6 million, 200 times what clerks cost. Smith himself wanted to spend MUCH less than that, but the studio execs insisted on the budget. The result is a blend of Smith's clear and earthy take on juvenile urban life and the studios commercial vision. The imagery is still pure, simple and direct. I think Kevin Smith is a brilliant storyteller, even if his subjects are not great art. Best Part of this DVD: The great Bonus Features including deleted scenes and commentary.

This is a fun movie to watch, whether or not you're a fan of Kevin Smith (writer/director). The dialogue is always funny but you really have to listen for it. This movie is a comedy. Don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy it. Smart, witty, and slapstick. This is every type of humor all rolled into one. Funny and fun and worth watching if you want to have a laugh.
