Lost Cause (1993)
This buddy film is set in San Francisco chronicles the friendship between a moronic rich boy and a middle-aged, cynical jazz pianist. The young man, Rufus hails from tiny Pacific Heights. He leaves home after his father demands he go to Dartmouth. He stays with Ellman, a guitarist in the rock band that Rufus plays the drum in. It is Ellman who meets Jerry, a jazz pianist, whom Ellman persuades to join the band. Jerry is still bitter from an early chance at fame within the jazz circuit.
