Since Blockbuster has failed to correct the description of this film I will do it myself. The DVD pictured is not the same movie described, it is a 1972 French film with the same title. If you rent this movie expect a French film with sub-titles. One of the stars is Richard Crenna of Rambo fame aka Luke McCoy from The Real McCoys. I reported this to Blockbuster by email and phone but they have not bothered to make the correction.

If you're looking for the 1995 American movie directed by James Bruce, this is not it. Blockbuster has the description and the credits all wrong. This is the 1972 French language movie Un Flic directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. See that title for the real description. Features lots of macho French men staring at each other homo-erotically and not saying much. Paris vice cop Alain Delon slaps around his transvestite informant, and seems generally unsure of his sexual preference throughout. There is zero chemistry between him and femme fatale Catherine Deneuve. The film is notable for the worst train-helicopter heist sequence imaginable, using awful miniatures. The wobbly rotors look like they'll fall off any moment. And you'll laugh out loud when Richard Crenna pulls that big red magnet out of his pajamas. Nice opening sequence in the rain, and some historically interesting footage of the grungy old Paris of the early 70's.

This was released on DVD by Anchor Bay under the French title, UN FLIC, but that disc only had the English language version. Now the French language version is available but under the U.S. release title DIRTY MONEY. This is the least of the three films which director Jean-Pierre Melville did with actor Alain Delon - marred by an overlong heist scene which uses a very obvious miniature helecoptor and a very obvious minature train. Still, the excellence of the opening bank robbery and the climax of the film make up for it.
