I remember watching this movie every Halloween night on ch. 2 (CBS) here in L.A. **SPOILER ALERT!!!** I cried every time they shot him, the scene where he's acting like a scarecrow, shivering and crying. I still remember the sheriff's smirk as he raises his gun and shoots him profusely. But the sheriff and townsfolk get theirs in the end. The image that is forever burned in my memory is when the scarecrow gives the little girl the flower in the end, as he turns to look at her while still wearing the scarecrow mask. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this movie. I highly recommend this beautifully acted film. Suitable for preteens and above. This is just the epitome of a "scary" movie. Not that played out hockey wearing mask guy. No chainsaws endangering the ozone layer. No 40-year-old actors playing teenage vampires/werewolves. Rent it today!

Why isn't this movie for sale?! This is one I want to buy. Update - I bought it on Amazon, I couldn't wait! I was in my early 20's when this came out, but it was one I always remembered. Larry Drake was brilliant as "Bubba". The cinemetography was excellent for a made for TV movie. I agree with everyone else, this movie is a favorite, because the thrills and chills came by what wasn't seen, rather than what was. Sort of like Hitchcock movies.
