Member Rating:
Directed by Umberto Lenzi, Spasmo centers on a discovery made by Christian (Robert Hoffman) and his girlfriend on what was meant to be a romantic stroll. At first, the couple happens on what appears to be a corpse, but upon further inspection, they see that the woman is still alive. As luck would have it, Christian meets the strange woman (Suzy Kendall) on a yacht party several days later, and quickly finds himself tangled in an affair. During a hotel room tryst, another man breaks in and savagely beats Christian. Quite accidentally, Christian ends up shooting the intruder with his own gun. In what is perhaps the most bizarre twist of events thus far, the body disappears, leaving Christian in the middle of yet another mystery. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

If Cannibal Ferox is Umberto Lenzi's most popular film then this is Lenzi's most stylish. I herd of this film but judging by the trailer I thought it was some romance story but after I herd it was actually a giallo I rented it. It is a giallo but not your tipicle one. There's no faceless assassin in black leather gloves mysteriously lurking threw the night preying on helpless and unsuspecting people. It's not a Whodunit? To be precise. It's more of a psychological thriller. But being an Italian thriller it still fits in the giallo category. But aside from that it's a good story (slow at times) but Lenzi's key shot framing and Enio Moricones soothing score keep the film strong and suspenseful. Robert Hoffmann(Death Caries a Cane), Ivan Rossimov (Deep River Savages)and Suzy Kendall(Bird With The Crystal Plumage) are great in it as well.
