Night Train Murders (1975)

Night Train Murders (1975)
Member Rating:
The Last House on the Left was a morally bankrupt but highly profitable film about rape, murder, and revenge. The 1978 sequel, The New House on the Left, may even be more reprehensible than the original. Whereas the murder site of the first film was a remote house, the scene of the crime in the sequel is a train (thereby negating the title). This film includes more rapes, more murders, and more revenge than the original --and, undoubtedly, more cash lining the pockets of the producers. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

This Italian take on the American "Last House on the Left", takes a long while to get going. Once it does, it is fairly unpleasant, but not that entertaining. The revenge finale is satisfying but too short. One positive note: the acting and cinematography are good. Dubbed in English.

This movie is pretty messed up. It's a foreign film, dubbed over in english. The start of the movie is pretty dull. Eventually 2 thugs hook up with a sex starved older woman. They take 2 young women hostage on a train. Things get pretty grotesque at that point and it's really not worth talking about. Sure there is a pretty satisfying revenge scene at the end of the film, but it's not enough. It looked like the film maker enjoyed the abuse of women far more than the revenge finish.

Judging by the other reviews I thought this flick would be just another low budget nasty but Aldo Lado's brilliant directing proved otherwise. I very much enjoyed this rape/revenge film it had all the necessary elements combined with colorful cinematography and Ennio Morricone's amorous piano score and humming harmonica helping the slow scenes along. The scene in the small room on the train were the girls are tormented is gritty claustrophobic and terrifying. I thought the revenge part was good too I mean one guy got stabbed in the balls and what's more vengeful than that? Very good script you could tell they weren't out to just make allot of money. I liked the acting especially the father. It is a rip off of Wes Craven's Last House On The Left but it has a completely different style and tone to it an Italian style and I highly recommended it. Also check out Aldo Lado's other brilliant film Short Night Of Glass Dolls (1971).
