If you like black and white french movies from this eara chances are that you will like this film. ALthough it is slow, it does deal with people and is interesting. For me, its right on the edge of one of those movies that you are giong to buy or just rent again sometime in the futur.

A unique prison escape film, full of very specific, realistic details and devoid of almost any prison movie cliches. Perhaps that"s because it"s based on a true story. In fact the cast are all non-pros, and one was actually involved in the real escape plan! The characters all prove more complex then we assume at first glance. I was lukewarm while I watched the film, but by the end it had an emotional and intellectual impact far more powerful than I expected. There were a couple of illogical moments that made me wonder if the story of the real situation was not being followed completely honestly. But then, ultimately that didn"t really matter. A tense, powerful, entertaining film.
