Synopsis of Miss George Washington
Marguerite Clark stars as Bernice Somers, mockingly nicknamed "Miss George Washington" because of her inability to tell the truth. After several examples of the havoc wreaked by her prevarications, Bernice outdoes herself by claiming that she is a married woman. As a result, she and her "husband" Cleverly Trafton (Niles Welch) are obliged to spend the night together in the house of an unsuspecting -- and very "proper" -- elderly couple. It was a testament to the 34-year-old star's ageless beauty that she was able to convincingly portray a finishing-school student in the film's opening scenes. Miss George Washington was played strictly for laughs, and it got them in abundance. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
