Life's Shop Window was a five-reel adaptation of the best-selling novel by Victoria Cross. Told in episodic fashion, the film related the experiences of a dozen or so individuals, drawn from various walks of life. The central character was a young woman who matriculates from giggling girlhood to the sober responsibilities of motherhood. Unfortunately, Clare Whitney, the otherwise able actress chosen to play this part, was not up to the demands of the material, or at least that was the consensus of critical opinion. Life's Shop Window was a rather sedate project for director Herbert Brenon, who at this point in his career was a specialist in oversized "epics." ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
