Synopsis of In the Night

Mr. Warren (L.L. Hall) is a businessman who has more important things to do than entertain his frivolous young wife (Rosemary Theby). So he leaves that job up to Van Austin (Harry C. Myers, who also directed). Not surprisingly, a romance springs up between Mrs. Warren and Van Austin, and they make plans to run away together as soon as Warren leaves on a business trip. But Warren misses his train and returns home unexpectedly. When he turns on the lights he finds -- not Van Austin but a burglar. He calls the police and then discovers Van Austin, hiding. He grumbles about one man trying to make off with his belongings and the other one trying to steal his wife, and when the police finally show up he sends them away, saying he made a mistake. He gives Van Austin a choice -- leave town, right now, or be shot. Wisely, Van Austin leaves. As for the burglar, after Warren hears of the hardships the man's family has suffered, he hires him to work on his country estate. Mrs. Warren realizes that her husband may be neglectful, but he is a good man, and they are reconciled. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
