In this drama, set during the 1930s, the head shrink at an Italian insane asylum believes that insanity is caused by a virus. His intensive research has caused him to spend all his time at the hospital. He hasn't left it for eight years. A young female doctor comes and gets close to the chief doctor. She learns that he is afraid he has become infected.
