The Royal Albert Hall is a wonderful concert venue, but not so much for theater, since there's no conventional proscenium stage. ALW's Really Useful Group worked miracles with it for this spectacular production, and Karimloo, Boggess & company sing their bee-hinds off in what is truly one of the greatest musicals ever staged. If your only familiarity with this piece is the 2004 movie (an otherwise SPLENDID film that was totally ruined by the non-singing and non-acting of Gerard Butler in the title role), then PLEASE see this, so that you'll know why the show has endured for 25 years, and will endure for as long as there's musical theater.
I loved this musical very much and enjoyed the show when it was here. I was really impressed the second time when saw this on dvd. The music was not all that bad but still a wonderful piece. I fell in love the first time I saw this musical and now every time I watch it which was 3 times. For sure I will be buying this dvd.
