Director Reeves Eason had been giving his young son, Reeves "Breezy" Eason, Jr. small roles in a number of his productions for a while; this picture is the tot's starring debut -- which, incidentally, came out not too long after Charles Chaplin's The Kid. Patches (Breezy) is an adorable ragamuffin who can't seem to melt the heart of his drunken, abusive father. So he runs away with his dog, Mickey, and is hauled into jail with some tramps who have befriended him. Lawyer John Wellborn (Lee Shumway) takes custody of Patches and gives him a home on his sister's farm, where there is already an adopted child, the adolescent Sally (Gertrude Olmstead). Patches' father is bumming around, begging for food and when he finds Patches alone at the farm, robs the house and kidnaps the boy. Sally is running away because she is in love with Wellborn, but believes he loves someone else. She sees Patches being taken to an old shack and goes after him, but the father takes her prisoner. Patches gets away and brings help. He returns to the farm, and Sally discovers that Wellborn returns her love. ~ Janiss Garza, All Movie Guide
