One word: unnecessary. Can't someone write a new vampire movie that doesn't center around romance? There was no need to recycle the character names and the white dress from the first movie. Collin Farrell isn't terribly sinister, and the beginning is pretty slow. Watch it at your own Farrell...I mean peril.

First of all, I have to say that I love the original. It provided a fresh look at an old genre. It was one of the first movies to mix comedy with horror. Having said that, I believe that taken on its own merits, the remake of Fright Night is a good movie. It keeps the suspense going throughout. The gore is not overpowering. Colin Farrell as vampire, Jerry, was a good choice. It had some humor but I believe that It lacked the humor of the original. The cameo of Chris Sarandon will amuse fans of the original. However, without comparing it to the original, it was a good watch.
