Divorces! (2009)

Divorces! (2009)
Although it features different actors essaying two key characters - with François-Xavier Demaison and Pascale Arbillot taking over for Mathilde Seigner and Jean Dujardin - this film does constitute a sequel to director Valérie Guignabodet's 2004 ensemble comedy Marriages! . In the prior film, Alex and Valentine were supporting characters, married attorneys with an extremely rocky relationship, made even more fragile via Valentine's onscreen admission that she was involved in a 4-month-old affair, and her complaint that Alex had no idea whatsoever. Taking that subplot as its cue, this second act puts those characters center stage, and observes them as they suffer through the ordeal of divorce. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
