A woman stranded between two worlds finds an unlikely guide in this arty supernatural thriller. Abigail (Catiah Li) is a woman in her twenties who suddenly has nowhere to live following the death of her parents. Abigail pulls up stakes and moves to Chicago, where she has an aunt; however, there's no familiar warmth between them, and Abigail rarely speaks to her aunt and has to contribute to the rent. The stress begins to take its toll, and as Abigail is troubled with insomnia and strange visions, she can no longer tell where her nightmares end and the real world begins. When her aunt unexpectedly passes on, Abigail needs a boarder, and she takes in Hector (Gonzalo Escobar), a Colombian immigrant who has learned he only has a short time to live. While Hector only wants a place where he will be left in peace in his last weeks, Abigail discovers he understands the otherworldly visions that have been haunting her, and he becomes her companion in the netherworld between life and death.
