True Adolescents (2009)
Member Rating:
An ageing Seattle rocker takes a pair of teens on a camping trip in this warm-hearted coming of age story starring Mark Duplass and Academy Award-nominee Melissa Leo. Sam Bryant (Duplass) isn't exactly the kind of guy a parent would recruit to take their kids on a camping trip; he doesn't have a job, he's still searching for a record deal, and he was nearly homeless until he moved into his aunt's house in the suburbs. But perhaps a change of scenery will do Sam well, and when Oliver (Bret Loehr) and Jake (Carr Thompson) need an adult to supervise their camping trip, Sam reluctantly obliges. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

I'M Sorry, but I could not find anything worth while in this movie. It supposed to be hilarious, edifying and finding oneself, all from a trip in the woods. Also, it touches on homosexuality with a minuscule scene between the two teenagers! We're not sure if they are lovers or if it was just an impulsive thing on the part of Oliver. Their looking for Jake was almost one of indifference; no real feeling of panic or concern. This film may have resonated with the generation, post WWII (reliving their own youth?) but for the rest of us, it was plain flat!

This is one of those movies you either get or you don't. I doubt you could despise the film but it may bore some. A combo of Coming of age, bonding and trying to find where you fit in to life, even when you're in your 30's. A bummed out musician ends up crashing at his Aunts after getting kicked out of his Girlfriends place. After his Nephews Dad bails on the kids camping trip, Sam is guilted into taking Oliver and his friend Jake. Along the way things happen and after Jake gets upset, he runs away and Sam and Oliver have to search the woods for him. They run into some hippies who are stoned out of their minds and have no clue what is going on. After a night in the woods, they find Jake back at the campsite on the beach smoking weed with the Hippies. The movie kind of ends lame but It actaully fit the theme. I am glad I watched but it will not fit everyone's needs. If you like Indie or offbeat films, you might enjoy it, If you are looking for Transfomers, then take a pass. C +
