From an old song: "A sailor came and knocked on my door..." and changed the lives of a bickering, supposedly sophisticated New York couple. He comes in as a naif from a small town in Arkansas, awed by the big city. In his quiet, shy, almost passive way, he breaks through to their vulnerable points. The movie should have been called "Adopt a Couple".

Good movie about a troubling couple who take in a sailor preparing to deploy for the night. The sailor helps the couple understand there's more to life than little problems.
