They DO make movies like they used to! Good fun for fans of the old sci-fi films. It even caught and held my 17 y/o daughter's attention (though it was touch and go for her for the first half of the film. Don't expect the shock a second action of more current films. Compare this one with films from the black and white era.

It was fun if you take it for the B retro sci-fi send up that it was. I thought it missed a few chances to be more B or poke more fun at 50s sci-fi and the director/writers injected a few too many modern day PC things like people being afraid of guns and the locals not arming themselves because it's the law's job which was not the case in these old movies, the wife was far more sexy and promiscuous than she would have been in the old movies. Stuff like that where they stick to the retro them and other times they don't try at all. Having said all that it was still fun.

It's not that the humor is not funny, there is no humor! The film looks like a beautifully shot 1957 film, but it's played completely straight. I was expecting a loving, satiracal parody like "Lost Skeleton of Cadavra". Hugely dissappointing. Note: it is supposed to be 1957, but they are watching "The Blob" (1958).
