Even though this movie has Mel Gibson in it, and while most would not agree with his tirades and rants- he is, in fact, a brilliant actor. Other actors have rants (see Sean Penn), and if the curtains were pulled back on all arguments we've ever had with our spouses, I'm sure some might look at you differently as well. That being said- this movie was unique and touching- if not apropus. The directing was done as well as it could be, based on the premise of this movie. The best aspect of the film is the fantastic acting by Gibson and also strong performances by the children. This won't win any best acting awards due to politics, but it is definitely deserving of them.

This was a terrible movie. We have dealt with depression in our family, and no one I know has ever been taken over by a puppet. I saw the climax coming, and thought, no, they aren't really going to have him to THAT are they, and sure enough they did. Movie made me depressed.

I know that Mel Gibson is in the news quite a bit for his issues, yet I still love him as an actor and have seen all of his movies. On this movie though, Mel, what the hell were you thinking? I am so sad that you and Jodie Foster made this movie. It is depressing to say the least and has no clue on depression. It's sad because people who have really suffered from depression all of their lives or even bipolar disorder hopefully don't see this movie because it's a sick mockery (the movie) of serious misunderstood diseases. I am a puppeteer too and felt sad about the Beaver's end. My gosh...just too much.
