A pair of young runaways find both beauty and danger in the big city in an evocative drama from writer and director Lance Daly. Dylan (Shane Curry) is an 11-year-old boy growing up with an alcoholic father who often uses his children as punching bags. One day, Dylan decides he can take no more, and he makes plans to run away from home. His close friend Kylie (Kelly O'Neill), a girl of ten living next door, is also the product of an abusive family, and when she learns that Dylan is leaving home, she steals a wad of cash from her family and joins him. Making their way out of town on a barge driven by a sympathetic sailor with a yen for music, Dylan and Kylie end up in Dublin just as the Christmas season is going into full swing. The two friends explore the city, which seems magical even at its shabbiest. But while Dublin seems like a paradise of lights and magic by day, they learn that the city's sinister side comes into focus after the sun goes down. Kisses also stars Stephen Rea and Paul Roe. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Kelly O'neill steals the show with her personality and cute face. The other characters are all so real. We feel the love between Kylie (Kelly) and Dylan (Shane) in our hearts and our souls as the two face the hard streets homeless and hungry. Some nasty pervs abduct Kelly but Dylan follows and becomes her hero. No frills or super heroes here no special effects or CGI just plain old grit souls and love! The brit accents are cute but read the subtext so you don’t miss a word. This movie is 4 if not 5 stars and shines like a diamond in the ruff of today's trash! Don't miss this one!!

A very good movie. Reminded of something Shane Meadows would do. Newcomers Kelly O'Neill and Shane Curry shine in raw, heartfelt and charismatic performances. Shows a side of Ireland we rarely see. The soundtrack is very good as well. I did have to use subtitles from time to time.

A boy and a girl from broken homes run off into the city in this Irish film. The two encounter both friend and foe while walking the streets for an evening. The longtime friends develop an even closer bond while trying to survive the rough downtown life. The low budget shooting enhances the realism of the film, with the viewer becoming invested in the welfare of the protagonists. This is a strong recommendation for a charming little movie.
