A modern remake of a creepy 1970's TV film delivers chills. The film is a remake of sorts but is changed a lot, especially by adding a new central character and a back story. The script is linear but enjoyable as it follows the style of old gothic fairy tales. The real flashiness here though are the visuals. The creatures look creepy and real within the darkly lit mansion that looks like something out of an old-school ghost story, the atmosphere is creepy and haunting, like a childhood nightmare. There are also many scares that will make some jump out of their seats. It deserves a lot of merit for what it is, but at the same time it never really surpasses itself as being anything more than a decent genre film. An entertaining but flawed film.

the movie is fairly creepy, you do get a good view of the creatures and they dont dissapoint, normally when they over show the monster it doesnt look as good but they are very creepy but i felt that movie was a mix of horror and a childrens fantasy, the acting comming from the little girl was good but for everyone else i felt they kind of overacted and the ending was kind of dissapointing, overall its not bad but nothing special.

I agree with the majority of posters... "a decent genre film" as one poster states. However the ending was pretty bad, so I gave it 2 1/2 stars (would have been 3 stars with a better ending).
