in a word.....GRIM. we enjoyed the artistic photography, composition and lighting plus the music, but we were lost from the beginning, trying to keep up with the rapid subtitles, the cryptic and elusive dialogue and the endless names of politicians and mafia who could only be familiar to people living in italy during that time. main character is one of the most odd, uncaring and unflinching people i have ever seen in movies. as a rule, we always finish movies we rent but this one was unbelievably boring. 3 member reviews means no one is watching this. i suggest you do the same.

way too insiderish and confusing. endless names and flashbacks thrown at you. if you want a gritty look at modern day Italy and its problems. try Gomorrah, a gritty look at Naples's crime culture -- and the rest of Italy by proxy. Divo doesn't travel as well--it means more to Italians who follow the names, dates and trails of the Andreotti saga, which can't be summarized easily for US viewers. Also, the endless marble corridors, shaded rooms and gibbering flunkies overdoes things.

You can use all the superlative descriptions you want, but this movie was boring as F. Great lighting? Yeah but so what? Great acting? I guess so, but so what? I was more bored than picking belly button lint. To even compare it to the Godfather is serote. I wish I could give this zero stars.
