Arrested and jailed on a charge of murdering a small-town mayor, Bret (James Garner) is none too encouraged by his court-appointed defense attorney Luke Abigor (Alan Mowbray), a momument to ineptitute who bases his entire defense on an astrology chart. The only hope for salvation is to locate the real killer, who has been going around town impersonating Bret.
