Filmed in the vein of "Spinal Tap" or "Best in Show", Gamers is a mockumentary-style look at a group of role-players. The writing is fast and witty, the cast is quite impressive (Kelly LeBrock, William Katt, John Heard and Beverly D'Angelo? I can't remember EVER seeing these four in a movie together, and it's just too bad it took this long!). Whether you are a "gamer" yourself, have friends or loved ones who own different shaped dice, or just like watching a well-written and funny movie, Gamers is for you! Highly recommended!

The title menu has a 15+ minute rant that had me laughing before even starting the DVD. The final credits, however, save this B-rated flop that was barely funnier than DISASTER MOVIE. The focus on their fictional lives is hillariously sad and the bigger-name actors/actresses made solid cameos, but this was only worth a one-time viewing.

Surprisingly enjoyable. I was given this as a present because I play RPGs. I finally got around to watching it and was surprised at the quality acting. It's definitely a low budget movie, made in the style of other mockumentaries, but it has sharp writing, is well acted and quite funny. I don't like the stereotypical geek/loser that they all seemed to be, as this is far from the truth (Heck, Van Diesel is a role player). However, a movie like this tends to need the loser types to make it work, so it's forgivable. The second movie "Gamers: Dorkness Rising" is definitely the better of these two movies, if you role play and want a good laugh.
