Just came back from seeing a screening of the film today 8/8/11. Not a bad movie but not great either. Ron Pearlman did an outstanding job portraying Conan's father. Jason Momoa on the other hand did not do such a good job playing the role of Conan the Barbarian, I mean he did have some pretty big shoes to fill, like the ones filled by his predecessor. The story was alright, quite silly at times, with added corny dialogues. Action scenes were pretty cool/realistic, especially at the beginning of the film and the fight scene with the sand people. Lots of gore/guts/blood. Disregard watching it in 3D, not at all worth it.

I enjoyed this movie. Wasn't a deep meaningful story, but did you expect it to be? Jason Momoa did a pretty good job as Conan. Especially in scenes where he showed the wildness of what a barbarian would actually be like. Pacing back and forth like a caged animal and his intent stares. Some great fight scenes. Was fun to watch & hope there is a sequel.

Lots of sfx and fight scenes, some topless girls and a thin plot line. little time is given to developing characters you care about because the main focus is watching Conan break heads and kill people. adrenaline junkies will love it. Seems like it was made for adolescent boys who want to fight, see blood and get a glimpse of shirtless women.
