The Academy [TV Series] (2007)
Member Rating:
As part of MyNetwork's new commitment to reality shows during the 2006-2007 TV season (the network's previous commitment to nighttime soap operas had laid a large and noxious egg the previous season), the weekly, hour-long series The Academy was imported from the sister cable network Fox Reality. The series zeroed in on the grueling 18-week training program for the members of "Class 355" of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Academy. Under the exacting and oftimes merciless tutelage of such trainers as Lt. Steve McLean, Captain Sue Kopperud, Sgt. Mark Wilkins, and veteran deputies Dwight Miley, Rene Garcia, Sidra Sharrod and Pete Encisco, the 110 trainees worked long and hard to qualify as deputies with the LAPD, beginning with the harrowing first day (known in the department as "Blue Monday") and ending with graduation for those who'd survived the process. Taped by Scott Sternberg Productions and narrated by Holt McCallany, The Academy debuted May 24, 2007 on Fox Reality, then launched its MyNetwork run on September 4 of that year. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Loved the series, although not from blockbuster. It's a shame that I had to sign up for this service to see that it was UNAVAILABLE. VERY disappointed with that! Still, the series was great, as you are able to see the aspects of training for one of the most stressful, dangerous, and least respected jobs in the world.
