My 2nd favorite TV series of all time after The Wire, tied with Breaking Bad. LA complex, Dickensian study of human nature, meticulously plotted like a great novel, each episode a chapter in a much larger whole. Where The Wire used the cliche world of the cop show to jump off from and shatter our preconceptions, Battlestar Galactica uses the sci-fi series the same way. It is about what it means to be human, morality under the pressure of war, fathers and sons, impossible loves, metaphors for real world politics.

If you approach this season without the understanding that the writers had planned most of the story arcs that end during this season one or more seasons back, you might be left with the feeling that certain elements of this season are cheesy. On the other hand, if you are, you'll really appreciate all of the details that were set up one, two, or even three seasons ago that come together during this final season. It's sort of a Babylon 5 approach to telling a long story--well planned from the beginning. I enjoyed this season and find myself missing the show. Not all of the questions are answered unlike most other shows out there. Many things in this show are intentionally left to your own imagination just like many authors tend to do in books.

This season was very slow and it seems as if the creators were reaching. I must say I was disappointed in them finding Earth in shambles and the 5th Cylon being Ellen was not all that exciting. However, I have not finished and I do have anticipation on what is going on with Starbuck. Adama, the Admiral, is getting weak and I wish the President goes away already (she is irritating). I look forward to see how it unfolds.
