Having lived in the Northeast for a long time, I've enjoyed James Carroll's books and op- ed pieces in the Boston Globe. His abiding concern about the role of religion in waging war propels "Constantine's Sword." Although the film meanders a bit, it is truly compelling. Open-minded believers will be moved by it, as I was. Now I'm reading the book-length "Constantine's Sword." Amazing.

What an amazing documentary. It makes me sad to see that after 2000 years, not much has changed in human nature. At least some people are willing to question their worldview and beliefs.

I have never understood any reason behind anti-semitism so this was eye-opening as well as horrifying. James Carrol goes all the way back to the time of Christ and the beginnings of Christianity to address how anti-semitism began and how it was allowed to thrive in the name of religion. Religion, specifically the Catholic church as called out in this movie, has not always been on the side of good and has basically failed humanity on so many occasions. I'm not convinced religion can ever make a comeback from that but the author here is more hopeful.
